Let’s take a break here

Maybe you are here because so far data has not delivered what you were hoping to get. Or you heard these stories about data-driven build products like AirBnB, Uber or Booking.com and wonder if you can achieve something similar.

Data can absolutely help build better product and customer experiences. I saw and implemented these setups, but it takes the right approaches to get there. We always talk about tools, processes, and people. In my experience, process and people are the essential ingredients. This is where I focus my work.

What I do

If you like to get started I have free resources in my Substackand my YouTube channel.

When you want to take the next step to make data work for better product development, check out the Better Products with Data Program - it starts at 45 USD a month.

Your company wants to make the data more operational? Book me for a company workshop to build the first metric tree or to improve your event data tracking setup.

You just want to get a data setup that delivers results for your business. Hire me for a fractional position to get your setup off the ground.

How I work

I believe in Metrics-driven analytics - Understand the mechanics of your products and customer journeys to make better decisions about where to invest time and resources.

When you work with me my first job is to understand how your product and customer experience work. I will spend enough time to interview you about this until I am sure that I get how your product creates customer value.

Make data operational

Second I build the foundation that enables you to make data operational. Foundation for me is a well defined metric system (aka metrics tree) that explains and visualizes your products mechanics. Based on that I define a foundational event schema, that I will use to collect the right data to calculate the metrics.

Finally I bring the metrics to life and show you how you can operate with them. This includes planning new features and review them after launch.

Event data focussed

We need to have the right kind of data to understand product usage. Classic BI data needs dimensions to understand what happened and in which order. However, this is essential for analyzing product and customer experiences.

Therefore, I work with event data. Either collected and sent directly into event analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Posthog. Or collected and modeled in the data warehouse (a new way we are really convinced about) and then made accessible in products like Netspring, Mitzu, or Amplitude.
